Due to the extremely cold weather recently I decided to post about something that might help warm you up, an authentic Irish Coffee recipe! When my husband studied abroad in Ireland, he was taught how to make a REAL Irish Coffee while visiting a local pub (only in Ireland I guess!) and when he arrived back he taught me the way to properly make an Irish Coffee and it is so much better!! Below I have shared Robert’s recipe so you can all impress your friends and family this winter!
Irish Coffee Mug (Any mug works if you don’t have one)
Strong black coffee
1 TBS Brown Sugar
2 TBS sugar
lightly whipped whipping cream
1 Shot of Irish Whiskey (We use Jameson)
Begin by warming your mug with hot water. After the mug is warm, discard the water.
Next add brown sugar and whiskey, stir these together until combine.
Pour in your freshly brewed black coffee, stir to combine.
Next add the sugar and whipping cream to the your mixing bowl and lightly whisk the whipping cream, you want it a little liquidy and easy to pour.
You will then hold a spoon facing down towards your coffee, and pour the cream over the top of the spoon so that the cream lays nicely on top of the Irish coffee mixture. You should see a clear difference between the coffee and the cream, this will give you a sweet flavor with every sip!
Sláinte (Cheers) everyone, I hope you stay warm and enjoy you yummy Irish Coffee!
